Jobs at Wharfe Rural Planning

The WRP team is growing! We’re always interested in hearing from planning consultants, project managers, designers and other people who want to make their mark.

We believe we’ve created something pretty special here at WRP. You’ll be welcomed into a friendly, inclusive team, where everyone’s views are respected. We believe in celebrating our achievements and want everyone in the team to genuinely enjoy what they do.

If you join us, you’ll be working closely with your clients – helping to improve peoples’ lives and strengthen small businesses.

And you’ll be swapping traffic fumes for fresh country air, as we’re based in the pretty Cheshire village of Lower Peover.

  • WRP are brilliant at what they do – I would never go anywhere else!

    James Fielding

At WRP, we believe in looking after our people and helping them to progress through their career. We want you to love your job and get a real kick out of helping people to make their homes and businesses better.

To make sure that can happen, we’ve created a working environment where everyone can contribute, whether you’re fresh out of uni or a seasoned planning pro. Your voice will be heard and you’ll be treated as a valued member of the team. You’ll get to work with a variety of clients to tackle a huge variety of planning issues, from extensions on Grade II listed homes to barn conversions.

While we want you to enjoy your job, we know it’s not the most important thing in your life. We believe in balance, so we promote flexible working. Most of us choose to work from home one day a week. Some of us are part-time. Traditional 9-5 hours don’t suit everyone, so we’re open to ideas. If you’re the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you.

  • Supportive working environment
  • 25 days’ leave (plus bank hols) as standard
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Family-friendly working arrangements
  • Option to work at least one day from home

We want people who are proactive, get things done and can work under their own steam. We’re particularly keen to hear from:

  • Planners – You’ll be a graduate and have 2+ years relevant working experience
  • Planning consultants – You’ll have 5+ years’ experience.
  • Project managers – You’ll have 5+ years’ experience in property and development, and ideally have a chartered surveying background and planning experience.

“This is one of the best environments I’ve ever worked in. There’s a real emphasis on personal development, creating the right culture and showing appreciation. Last week, Ben booked for us all to have our cars valeted as a treat. And, as Ben has three kids, he really understands the importance of flexible working, I haven’t missed a school event since I started here.

Beth Binyon Group HR & OD Manager

At Wharfe, we believe in supporting our Planning Consultants, not micro-managing them. So, while you’ll have the guidance of our Directors and Associate Directors, you’ll be managing your own cases. You’ll see projects right through from proposal to completion, including drafting and reviewing submissions and being the first point of contact for all your clients. You’ll enjoy a varied case load, as we work on a wide range of projects, from family farms to multi-million pound housing developments.

As an active member of the planning team, you’ll play a crucial role in giving our clients the best possible chance of success. Under the guidance of our Senior Planning Consultants, you’ll undertake a variety of vital technical and administrative functions, from drafting reports to monitoring the progress of our applications

You never know what new opportunities might arise. So if you’re interested in joining us but can’t see a suitable vacancy, please send us your CV and tell us a bit about yourself.
