ALLUM BROOK – Barn conversion
Conversion of Barn to Rural Office Units.
We gained planning approval for the change of use of these traditional agricultural building to offices, split over two floors, to create five office units at this beautiful rural setting, only minutes from the M6.
Influenced by the traditional form of the building, it was key that the design retains as many original features as possible, including restoring the slate roof, retaining existing windows and door openings where possible, and expressing the important architectural features, including vent bricks.
This charming development embodies the principles of expanding and developing the rural economy, supported by the National Planning Policy Framework which advises that decisions should enable ‘the sustainable growth and expansion of all types of business in rural areas, both through conversion of existing buildings and well-designed new buildings’.
