LAND AT MARTHALL LANE
This agricultural operation spans over 400 acres of farmed land, concerned primarily with hay and straw production and with an established farmstead central to the storage of the hay and straw.
The site is a good reminder of the risks involved in hay storage where, in some circumstances, the moisture and humidity of stored hay can trigger a chemical reaction, causing the hay to combust spontaneously. Unfortunately, this was demonstrated in 2020 when a fire resulted in the loss of 8000 bales of hay and rendering the building useless.
The proposed new building – a portal framed building sited on the existing yard – is considered essential to the client’s agricultural enterprise.
